A Place Like No Other

I have been meaning to write this post for a while now. Things have been a little hectic since the year turned over to 2013 so finally 3 months since my return from Vietnam I can write about it. Vietnam had been on my list of places “I would love to visit” for many years. So to finally visit was a dream come true. My husband and I booked our trip which led us from the capital Hanoi in north Vietnam to the tranquil Unesco site of Halong Bay, down to Hue and Hoi Ann, cruising the Mekong Delta and finishing in Ho Chi Minh City.

Our trip to Vietnam was an amazing experience which I will remember forever. It is the longest amount of time I have spent with my husband none stop (24/7 for 20 days), the most amount of travelling I have done over a small period of time (we covered 960 miles in 10 days), the largest amount of new experiences I have gained over a few days (floating on an overnight boat amongst limestones, cycling from the beach in the pouring rain, eating and cooking authentic cuisine, sharing a 4 person cabin on an overnight train, sitting on the smallest stools known to man, dodging hundreds of mopeds just to cross the road and experiencing the warmth and hospitality of the Vietnamese people). The sights, sounds and smells of Vietnam overload your senses. As a person who loves colour I certainly got my fill, its almost like the vivid setting is constantly on.

I was pleasantly surprised to see lots of little stalls selling the most amazing cards. I now wish I had taken a photo of these stalls, I did however buy a couple of the cards. The intricate nature of them is just amazing and the colours wonderful. I love the fact that they are quite understated on the front and then
when you open them up BAM! There were so many different styles even ones especially for us westerns with Manchester United, Arsenal and Chelsea football grounds erected! Pretty amazing really but not as pretty as the ones below...
