So, you've found the card, whether it’s a laugh-out-loud funny one about taxi duties or a heart-melter that reminds him he's 1 in 2 billion. Now comes the tricky bit: writing something inside it that isn’t... well, awkward.
Here’s how to write a message that’ll make your dad smile (or possibly mist up a bit), even if words aren’t usually your thing.
Keep It Real
Your message doesn't have to sound like Shakespeare. In fact, please don't let it sound like Shakespeare. If your dad is a straight to the point kind of man, a simple
“Thanks for being there. Always.”
goes a long way.

Go for the Giggle
Especially if he's the kind of dad who says things like "I'm not sleeping, I'm just resting my eyes". Try
“Thanks for all the lifts. Literal and metaphorical. And for pretending not to notice when I borrowed your snacks/tools/car.”
Pair it with this Taxi... oops I mean Dad card for full effect.

From the Kids – Keep It Sweet and Silly
If you’re writing on behalf of little ones, keep it playful:
“You’re our superhero, snack-sharer and the best story reader ever. Happy Father’s Day!”
Or let the kids come up with one line each, guaranteed gold.

Add a Shared Memory
Even something small like:
“Remember the time we got lost and you blamed the map? Best detour ever.”
adds warmth, humour and something uniquely you two.

Can’t Find the Words? Try These Starters
“Thank you for always…”
"I've always admired the way you..."
"You might not say much, but..."
“I got my [insert awesome trait] from you…”
“Let’s be honest, the world’s full of dads. But you? You’re ours.”

A Final Quick Tip: Write First, Then Copy It Neatly
Jot down your message on scrap paper or your phone before committing to the card. (We’ve all been there with the rogue smudge or spelling error.)
